Job summary

Verathon is a global medical device company focused on improving patient care in Airway Management and Urology. We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for our Urology R&D team in Bothell, WA, working largely on-site to establish system requirements and architecture for a miniaturized, single-use endoscope program.

The role interfaces with clinical, marketing, and engineering teams, requires strong hardware systems expertise, and adherence to NPD framework and QMS.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering or Applied Physics required; Master’s preferred.
• 8+ years of technical product development.
• Experience developing hardware-focused system requirements and architecture for medical devices.
• Experience with hardware risk analyses (FMEA) and clinical impact.
• ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601 knowledge required.
• Experience with regulatory standards and FDA compliance.
• Travel up to 15% of the time.
• Experience with JAMA and JIRA.

Responsibilities

• Author system-level requirements grounded in hardware design and regulatory compliance.
• Define architecture for a miniaturized endoscope platform.
• Lead hardware-focused FMEA and risk assessments.
• Manage requirements input and traceability using JAMA.
• Collaborate with clinical, marketing, and engineering teams.
• Define verification strategies and acceptance criteria.
• Serve as primary contact for system-level designs.
• Support design changes and assess impact on requirements and risk.
• Provide timelines for system deliverables and mentor junior engineers.
• Drive continuous improvement of Systems Engineering procedures.
