Holtec International in Camden, NJ is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to manage and support enterprise systems on-premise and in the cloud. The role focuses on HPC cluster administration for scientific, engineering, and analytics workloads, with Linux-based infrastructure, software environments, and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Linux-based HPC compute environment administration.
• Expert in Linux administration (RHEL or Rocky Linux).
• Experience with HPC workload managers (Altair PBS preferred; Slurm/LSF helpful).
• Proficient in Bash and Python scripting for automation.
• Experience with Azure cloud and Azure Gov Cloud.
• Knowledge of security practices for protecting sensitive data.
• Familiar with IaC (Terraform/Bicep) and config mgmt tools (Ansible/Puppet).
• Background in scientific computing or parallel computing.
• Familiar with NIST/CIS frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain complex enterprise systems (on-premise / cloud) to support mission-critical workloads.
• Administer Linux HPC cluster infrastructure.
• Install and manage scientific software, compilers, libraries, and module environments.
• Tune applications and system configurations for performance and resource utilization.
• Configure high availability and redundancy for network interfaces and storage.
• Manage HPC schedulers (PBS, Slurm, LSF) including queues and priorities.
• Capture user requirements and translate into system configurations.
• Provision data staging and workflow integration.
• Architect and manage Azure Cloud environments, including Gov Cloud.
• Deploy and support infrastructure for AI workloads.
• Implement security controls for sensitive workloads.
• Troubleshoot cluster, scheduler, software, and job submission issues.
• Automate administrative tasks and standardize operations.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
