Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to originate and shape new product concepts, lead early design activities, and ensure smooth transition from prototype to production. You will own requirements development, coordinate with suppliers, and oversee prototyping within the R&D team to advance grid-scale energy storage solutions.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field; M.S. or Ph.D. preferred.
• 5–8 years of systems engineering experience in power electronics, energy storage, or adjacent hardware product development.
• Direct experience with grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for new products or significant architectural evolution; translate needs into concepts.
• Develop and decompose system requirements; ensure traceability and testability.
• Lead architecture definition, prototyping, and early validation; organize PDRs.
• Coordinate with vendors; review designs and qualify components.
• Facilitate structured trade studies and risk-based prioritization.
• Support design transfer and production issue resolution; drive continuous improvement.
