Job summary

Form Energy in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to bring our 100-hour iron-air battery systems from pilot to full-scale utility deployment. You will own the technical definition, architecture integration, and system-level performance trade-offs across electrical, mechanical, and electrochemical domains.

Work with design, software, and validation teams to establish system design methodologies and verification procedures that ensure safety, durability, and commercial readiness.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in systems engineering, product integration, or technical lead roles.
• Breadth across electrical, thermal, software controls, and hardware development.
• Experience managing hardware requirements from concept to commercial scale-up.
• Familiar with requirements management, boundary diagrams, interface controls, and DFMEA.
• Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams toward alignment on trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Define, cascade, and decompose system requirements to balance performance, safety, and cost.
• Conduct system-level modeling, hazard analyses, and FMEA.
• Use MBSE tools to develop architectures.
• Drive requirement change requests through impact analysis.
• Evaluate technical maturity with design and verification coverage.
• Collaborate with electrochemical, mechanical, power electronics, and controls teams for testing and integration.
