Russell Tobin is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer in Indianapolis, onsite, for a 1-year contract with potential extension.

The role focuses on embedded, connected, and electro-mechanical HVAC products, covering requirements definition, system architecture, integration, validation, and production support. The ideal candidate has 9–15 years of systems engineering experience, strong systems-thinking, and hands-on data with hardware, software, controls, and validation teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
• 9-15 years of Systems Engineering experience.
• Experience with requirements management, functional decomposition, interface management, integration, and validation.
• Experience authoring and maintaining system-level requirements and specifications.
• Hands-on experience with engineering requirements/documentation tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage system and subsystem requirements using Systems Engineering and INCOSE principles.
• Develop functional, interface, and system-level specs for control systems, sensors, and interfaces.
• Define and document system modes, states, behaviors, and control logic.
• Ensure requirements are clear, traceable, and verifiable through reviews and validation.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, controls, and test teams to align requirements.
• Manage requirements traceability, issue tracking, and change management using JIRA and Confluence.
• Support system integration, functional testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Contribute to EOL testing, commissioning, diagnostics, and field-support strategies.
• Participate in technical reviews and improve SE processes.
