Location: Indianapolis, IN | Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Compensation: $67.34/hour | Duration: 12-month contract with high potential for extension | Start Date: Immediate

We are looking for a dedicated systems expert to join our team in crafting advanced HVAC technologies. If you enjoy tackling intricate engineering puzzles and want to contribute to the development of highly connected, high-performance climate control products, this role is for you. You will be involved in the full product journey, from initial conceptualization and architectural design to final validation, working alongside international teams to ensure our solutions are both innovative and dependable.

Core Responsibilities

• Establish and oversee system and subsystem requirements by applying INCOSE engineering standards.
• Create detailed functional specifications, interface definitions, system modes, and control logic to ensure project success.
• Maintain clarity and traceability of requirements to help the team deliver high-quality, validated products throughout the development cycle.
• Collaborate closely with hardware, software, controls, and testing departments to streamline the integration of complex systems.
• Utilize JIRA and Confluence to track issues, manage changes, and document system requirements effectively.
• Assist in system integration, troubleshooting, and functional testing to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Develop strategies for EOL testing and diagnostics to improve the overall commissioning process.
• Engage in technical reviews to foster a culture of continuous improvement in our engineering workflows.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Systems Engineering.
• Proven professional experience in Systems Engineering or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Prior industry experience within HVAC, automotive, rail, aerospace, or energy sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to manage the full lifecycle of system requirements, including functional decomposition and interface management.
• Practical experience utilizing industry-standard tools for documentation and requirements management.

Desired Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Technical proficiency with embedded control systems and communication standards like CAN, RS-485, BLE, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet.
• Experience working with smart home products, energy management systems, or HVAC controls.
• Familiarity with ISO 15288, the INCOSE SE Handbook, telemetry frameworks, and OTA update processes.
• Strong analytical capabilities and the ability to communicate effectively across diverse functional teams.
