Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, integrate, and optimize complex copper ECD platform systems.

You will analyze requirements, define architectures, and lead cross-functional teams to ensure wafer-level performance, throughput, and reliability targets. You will conduct hands-on integration testing, perform root-cause analyses, and translate process needs into hardware and control solutions while coordinating with mechanical, electrical, and software groups.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, with 7+ years of semiconductor equipment experience.

Responsibilities

• Technically lead engineering projects and own end-to-end execution for copper ECD platform subsystems.
• De‑construct on‑wafer performance requirements into engineering design requirements.
• Own system-level issue resolution and interface management across domains.
• Drive design, analysis, supplier engagement, build, and validation of complex subsystems.
• Define and optimize system-level tradeoffs across performance, throughput, reliability, cost, and serviceability.
• Support tool bring-up, debugging, integration testing, and qualification for throughput and uptime targets.
• Track and close system-level risks and drive cross-team action items; use first-principles and simulations.
• Communicate results and status to management and customers; review release docs in PLM.
