Job summary

Applied Materials is seeking a senior electro-optical systems engineer in the United States to lead the development of advanced semiconductor equipment platforms. You will drive system architectures, requirements, and performance budgets across electrical, mechanical, optical, and software subsystems.

The role requires 7–10 years in semiconductor/photonic systems and the ability to mentor junior engineers within cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 7-10 years of engineering experience in semiconductor equipment or photonics.
• Experience with complex multidisciplinary system development throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead the systems engineering development and execution of advanced semiconductor equipment platforms.
• Translate market and customer requirements into system-level architectures and performance metrics.
• Lead architecture trade studies and system design reviews to identify optimal solutions.
• Define system architectures, interface requirements, subsystem allocations, and performance budgets.
• Develop and maintain detailed system specifications covering functionality, performance, reliability, safety.
• Drive system integration during prototype development, subsystem integration, and qualification phases.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex system-level issues across hardware, software, optics, controls, sensors, and algorithms.
