Job summary

Amtrak is seeking an experienced senior software engineer to oversee complex projects and provide technical direction across the full development lifecycle. You will design and build enterprise applications, APIs, and cloud-native solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS.

You will champion CI/CD, automated testing, security, and observability while leading production troubleshooting and performance improvements within Agile teams across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with relevant experience.
• 6+ years of experience with Java SpringBoot, REST APIs, OO design.
• Experience with AWS services (Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, etc.).
• Knowledge of J2EE, Oracle/SQL, Kafka/MQ, JSON/XML and integration patterns.
• Experience with GitHub/GitLab, SonarQube, JUnit, CI/CD and automated tests.
• Strong security understanding: auth, encryption, secure coding.
• Ability to lead initiatives and collaborate across Agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee complex projects providing subject matter expertise and technical direction.
• Design, develop, integrate, and enhance enterprise systems and APIs.
• Lead microservices, REST/SOAP APIs, and cloud-native solutions on AWS.
• Champion CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps, observability, and code quality.
• Troubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, and optimize performance.
