Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Cloud Data Pipeline (CDP) for the US Coast Guard. This 100% remote role focuses on end-to-end engineering—from deployment to maintenance—within USCG-designated environments using the Confluent platform and Apache Kafka.

The candidate will lead implementation, ensure data ingestion/sharing, and uphold security and configuration standards across the IDE/SURVEYOR ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification in good standing (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
• Advanced hands-on programming in Java, .NET, or Python.
• Strong Linux programming and system administration background.
• Experience with Confluent Platform and Apache Kafka for enterprise data streaming.
• Ability to complete USCG PUMP RBAC processes for admin access.
• Expertise in configuration management, requirements analysis, and system architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead deployment planning and execution of the Cloud Data Pipeline (CDP) in USCG cloud environments.
• Ensure robust data ingestion and sharing between designated sources and the CDP.
• Maintain alignment with USCG software standards during lifecycle and maintenance.
