Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Cloud Data Pipeline for the U.S. Coast Guard.

This fully remote role focuses on implementing, maintaining and modernizing the CDP using Confluent and Apache Kafka within USCG environments to enable secure data ingestion and sharing enterprise-wide. The candidate will manage end-to-end lifecycle tasks, ensure compliance with security standards, and drive operational readiness across sourced networks and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• DoD 8570 Level II certification required.
• Proficient in Java, .NET, or Python.
• Strong Linux programming and system administration background.
• Experience with Confluent Platform and Apache Kafka for enterprise data streaming.
• Ability to complete the USCG PUMP RBAC administrative process.
• Expert understanding of configuration management and system architecture concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end lifecycle tasks for the Cloud Data Pipeline (CDP) in designated USCG cloud environments.
• Implement data ingestion and data sharing across source/recipient systems.
• Ensure compliance with USCG software implementation, configuration, and security standards.
• Plan and execute maintenance to ensure uptime of the CDP within USCG environments.
• Provide oversight for long-term sustainment and modernization of the CDP.
