Job summary

ActioNet is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, build, and validate the compute, storage, and network foundation for a Navy tactical testbed. The role spans current-state assessment through architecture, pilot build, and roadmap readiness, with milestones and government reviews.

You will lead infrastructure design, integration with AI-ready capabilities, and secure configuration aligned to Impact Level 5 and Zero Trust, while collaborating with a C4I/TDL SME and AI compute specialist.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of infrastructure, systems, or network engineering experience, including 3+ years leading technical design on DoW or federal programs.
• Demonstrated depth in two of: enterprise networking; virtualization and hyperconverged infra; storage architecture and performance tuning.
• Experience taking an infrastructure design from current-state through build, test, and customer acceptance.
• DoW cybersecurity compliance experience (e.g., STIGs, eMASS, RMF, ATO).
• Experience producing engineering documentation (interface specs, design packages, test procedures).
• Experience coordinating with OEMs/partners during integration.
• Active Secret clearance; hybrid work at Government facility in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities

• Assess the existing testbed environment including virtualization, SANs, network architecture, and cyber posture.
• Define pilot baseline via current-state review across compute, storage, virtualization, data, and edge environments.
• Identify systems and modernization priorities and rank by integration risk.
• Own transport, network, and storage layers; translate requirements into design, specs, and budgets.
• Size and lay out the network/storage fabric for GPU-dense compute against workload profiles.
• Incorporate segmentation, IAM, and secure config per Zero Trust and IL5 requirements.
• Lead pilot build: BOM, hardware, software, licensing, lead times, costs; stand up and integrate pilot environment.
• Validate interoperability with existing testbed systems, resolve defects across vendors.
