Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a systems engineer to support defense programs in the San Diego area. Responsibilities include design, integration, testing and sustainment of command, control, communications and navigation systems for Navy programs.

The role requires a Secret level clearance, strong requirements analysis, and hands-on experience with hardware, software, and cybersecurity integration in complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Support mission-critical Navy programs involving design, integration, testing, deployment and sustainment of defense systems.

• Analyze customer, operational and technical requirements and translate to system-level requirements.
• Participate in systems architecture development, interface definition, requirements allocation and trade studies.
• Support integration of hardware, software, network, cybersecurity and platform systems in complex environments.
• Evaluate system performance, identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Overview

• Support mission-critical U.S. Navy communications and navigation programs involving the design, integration, testing, deployment and sustainment of complex defense systems
• Provide technical leadership and hands-on support for research, engineering development and field operations of command, control, communications and navigation systems
• Analyze customer, operational and technical requirements and translate them into system-level requirements and specifications
• Participate in systems architecture development, interface definition, requirements allocation and trade studies
• Support the integration of hardware, software, network, cybersecurity and platform systems within complex operational environments
• Evaluate system performance, identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies

Requirements

• Must possess a Secret level security clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics or a related technical discipline from an accredited college/university and 5+ years of systems engineering experience supporting complex technical programs
• Ability to analyze requirements and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to develop, read, interpret and apply technical documentation
• Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
