Job summary

• Associate degree in MIS/CS or related field required.
• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• At least 3 years minimum experience in IT as an Analyst I is required.
• Minimum three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in IT services is required.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience with direct supervision of technical staff is required.
• Experience in Medical systems is a plus.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain server environments, virtualized systems, and cloud services in alignment with approved architecture and standards.
• Maintain infrastructure integrations with EHR, telephone system, and business applications in coordination with vendors and clinical leadership.
• In collaboration with facilities liaison, ensure building systems are in good working order and minimize clinic interruptions.
• Implement and manage cybersecurity tools to support HIPAA compliance and other healthcare regulations.
• Conduct security assessments, incident response planning, audits, and disaster recovery planning under executive direction.
• Serve as a liaison with security vendors and coordinate with local law enforcement as needed.
• Configure and maintain monitoring tools to ensure system uptime, performance, and security.
• Act as internal escalation point for IT and facilities issues; perform root cause analysis and remediation.
• Collaborate with clinical, administrative and operational teams to align technology with workflow needs.
• Lead or coordinate IT and facilities projects; maintain runbooks and disaster recovery docs.
• Stay current on evolving technologies to improve reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
• Provide direct supervision and mentoring to IT support staff.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior System Engineer serves a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the health center. The Senior System Engineer is responsible for ensuring all building and IT related systems are optimized, safe, compliant and support an optimal experience for all customers (staff, providers, patients, visitors). This role executes approved Facility and IT strategy and infrastructure standards. Strategic planning, policy development, budget authority, and final compliance accountability remain with executive leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Systems Architecture & Maintenance:

• Design, implement, and maintain server environments, virtualized systems, and cloud services in alignment with approved architecture and standards.
• Maintain and support the technical infrastructure and integrations associated with technology platforms (EHR, telephone system, business applications, etc.) in coordination with vendors and clinical leadership.
• In collaboration with the facilities liaison, ensure building systems are in good working order, avoiding interruptions that would impact clinic operations.

Security & Compliance:

• Implement and manage cyber security tools to support organizational compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
• Conduct security assessments, incident response planning, audits, and disaster recovery planning under executive direction.
• Serve as a liaison with the building security vendor, ensuring systems are in good working order; coordinate activities with local law enforcement as needed.

Monitoring & Incident Management:

• Configure and maintain monitoring tools to ensure system uptime, performance and security.
• Serve as the internal escalations point for company infrastructure (including facilities) and technology service issues; perform root cause analysis and remediation.

Collaboration & Support:

• Collaborate with clinical, administrative and operational teams to align technology with workflow needs.
• Serve as the liaison between administration and external vendors that support the overall operation of the building, including janitorial and environmental support vendors.

Project Management & Continuous Improvement:

• Lead or coordinate the technical execution of facility and IT projects (facility projects, system migrations, upgrades, integrations, and/or expansions) under executive direction.
• Maintain system documentation, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and disaster recovery documentation.
• Stay current on evolving technologies to improve reliability, security, and operational efficiency.

People Leadership

• Provide direct supervision, support, coaching and mentoring to IT desktop support staff, deescalation support staff.

Specifically, work processes that involve billing/collections practices for avoiding activities that constitute fraud and abuse.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize workflow and meet stringent deadlines.
• Knowledge of Windows OS, Group Policy, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 applications, relational databases, data query execution, networking, hardware, and application systems.
• Ability to occasionally work after hours or on weekends and travel to remote offices.
• Ability to provide on-call support on a rotational basis.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree in an accredited college or university with a major in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent in a closely related field is required.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent in a closely related field is strongly preferred.
• At least three (3) years minimum experience in computer related field as an Analyst level I is required.
• Minimum three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in information technology services is required.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience with direct supervision of technical staff is required.
• Demonstrated experience in application management is required.
• Experience in Medical systems is a plus.
• A valid driver's license is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a clinic office environment. Contact with staff, patients and outside agencies. Possible exposure to communicable disease and medical preparations common to clinic environment.
