Job summary

GEM Technologies, a NYC-area managed services provider, seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to maintain and secure IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, and Windows-based systems. You will design, implement, and optimize solutions for multiple clients.

This hybrid role is based in the NYC area with on-site client visits and remote work options. Candidates should have extensive experience in systems administration, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and scripting, with a record of delivering complex IT

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least five years as a Senior Systems Engineer delivering complex IT projects.
• Strong systems administration, network, security and cloud computing skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain server and cloud-based computing solutions.

• Analyze and optimize system performance, identify improvements.

The Role:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of IT infrastructure, cloud platforms and computer systems. You will participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with IT business needs of the organization. You will also actively identify and resolve problems within the IT infrastructure that can lead to work disruptions within the company. You will also have the opportunity to work with multiple clients, providing them with expert technical support and ensuring their systems are secure and functioning at peak performance. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our Windows-based systems and infrastructure. You will work closely with our IT team to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement and maintain server and cloud-based computing solutions
• Provide expert technical support to clients, resolving any issues related to their systems
• Analyze and optimize system performance, identifying areas for improvement
• Create and maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures and troubleshooting guides
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the field of systems engineering
• Experience with cybersecurity, including knowledge of firewalls and best practices for securing systems
• Experience with disaster recovery and regaining access and functionality to IT infrastructure
• While this is a remote position, some of your work will be performed onsite at client locations throughout the NYC metro area.

Education and Experience:

• Systems administration: Proficiency in managing and maintaining computer systems.
• Network protocols: Understanding of network communication protocols.
• Hardware configuration: Knowledge of configuring hardware components.
• Software deployment: Ability to deploy and manage software solutions.

• Security knowledge: Familiarity with system security practices.

In compliance with the state and city salary transparency requirements, the potential salary for this position is from $90,000 to $110,000 which represents a range commensurate with experience.
