This full-time role requires a TS/SCI/Full Scope Poly, with leadership responsibilities for a skilled engineering team. The selected candidate will perform cybersecurity assessments on large DoD systems, conduct deep vulnerability analyses, and validate security requirements across the lifecycle of acquisition documents.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of System Engineering experience; a BS counts for 4 years and an MS for 2 years
• Relevant BS degree in a STEM field
• Six years as a System Engineer lead with experience leading and collaborating across organizations
• Zero Trust experience

Responsibilities

• Perform cybersecurity assessments of large-scale DoD systems leveraging an Offensive Cyber Operations mindset.
• Conduct long-term vulnerability assessments using architecture diagrams, build specs, and system designs.
• Verify and validate security requirements, integrating resiliency concepts into acquisition docs (e.g., PWS).
• Provide technical evaluations of contractor proposals for resiliency and cyber security aspects.
• Lead and mentor engineers, ensuring optimal use of skills and strong team development across mission areas.
• Foster relationships with customers to gain insights and improve mission outcomes.

Job description

This is a full‑time position, and requires a TS/SCI/Full Scope Polygraph Clearance. 2HB Incorporated is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer in order to support its government customer in Annapolis Junction, MD.

In this role you will:

• Perform cybersecurity assessments of large‑scale DOD systems, utilizing an OCO (Offensive Cyber Operations) mindset to perform DCO (Defensive Cyber Operations) activities.
• Perform long‑term, in‑depth vulnerability assessments leveraging systems engineering principles and knowledge, utilizing any available information, including architecture diagrams, build specifications, design documentation, and systems architecture.
• Perform independent verification & validation of security requirements and capabilities, incorporating systems resiliency and security engineering concepts into acquisition documents (e.g., Performance Work Statements).
• Perform technical evaluations of contractor proposals for systems resiliency, security, and cyber security considerations.
• As a technical leader, Sr Systems Engineers will report directly to you. You will ensure they are fully utilized, their best skill set is being used, while encouraging them to exceed technical performance expectations, and participate in building a strong team with depth in the system engineering process across mission areas.
• Leverage your interpersonal skills to foster relationship development with our customers to gain additional insights, information, and documentation to improve our ability to accomplish our mission.

Required Qualifications:

• The Lead System Engineer will have a minimum of 15 years of System Engineering experience (a BS degree in STEM will count for 4 years and an MS in STEM will count for an additional 2 years).
• Relevant BS degree in a STEM field.
• Six years as a System Engineer lead with experience leading, managing, and collaborating with a broad range of organizations and groups.
• Zero Trust experience.

Desired Qualifications:

• Cybersecurity certification (Sec+, CISSP, CEH, etc.).
• Familiarity with NIST SP 800‑160.
• Familiarity with INCOSE‑defined life cycle systems engineering processes.
• Experience with or knowledge of large‑scale DOD Systems.
