Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Sr Sys & Development Analyst to analyze systems, design specifications, and develop and implement applications and interfaces. You will work with vendor software patches and support client/server and web applications.

The role requires extensive experience with Oracle, MS SQL, and .NET, plus strong analytical and communication skills. You may lead projects and provide technical guidance in a fast-paced utility IT environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in MIS, CS or related field or equivalent work experience.
Six or more years of experience in systems analysis or software development.
Advanced knowledge of client/server, mainframe or web development environment.
Advanced knowledge of relational database technology.
Hands-on experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL database development; .NET and related languages.
Experience integrating Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) solutions in environments with change and release management.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Provides technical support; problem determination and investigation; implementation of software patches and upgrades for commercial (vendor) applications.
Support client server packages both thick and thin clients, and web applications.
Conduct research to develop or modify application programs; review quality and compatibility with vendors.
Provide technical leadership or guide other analysts on assigned projects.
Design, code, test, document, implement and maintain moderately complex applications and interfaces.
Provide customer support for package software and interfaces; collaborate with vendors on improvements.
Consult with users to determine feasibility, cost, and timing for new or modified applications.
Research strategies, programs and processes across corporate functions.
Perform basic system analysis and design; handle critical development issues.
Provide input for project planning.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested.
