Job summary

Plug Power Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems and Controls Engineer in Albany, NY. You will provide systems engineering support and controls expertise for fuel cell systems, lead design and testing, and collaborate across functions to meet global standards.

The role emphasizes strong communication, project management, and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment. A STEM degree and 7+ years of relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM required.
• Seven years of related work experience in fuel cell, automotive, electrochemical, or hybrid power train field.
• Fundamental knowledge of PEM fuel cell systems or hybrid power train preferred.
• Strong systems thinking and creative problem solving.
• Experience with certification and performance characterization for NA/EU markets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; effective cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, LabView, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Outlook.
• Knowledge of coding languages (Python, C, C++) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop system concepts and controls strategy for programs related to product development and reliability.
• Perform controls software verification and data analysis.
• Design and improve control algorithms and state machines to maximize fuel cell performance.
• Develop architectures for fuel cell systems conforming to applicable codes and standards.
• Interface with customers and cross-functional teams to document requirements.
• Lead system design, testing and data analysis to meet global standards.
• Lead FMEA, functional safety, and hazard analyses for fuel cell systems.
• Perform root cause analysis and document lessons learned.
