Job summary

VTG seeks a seasoned Chief Engineer to lead the AN/BYG-1 Submarine Combat Control System program, guiding architecture evaluations, technology trade studies and performance optimization across the lifecycle. Based in Manassas, VA or Washington, DC, the role requires deep systems and software engineering expertise and strong leadership to drive technical excellence.

Qualifications

Minimum of 15 years in Combat Systems, Systems Architecture, technology evaluation and software engineering.
Experience leading technical teams in evaluating architectures and defining development strategies.
Familiarity with DoD acquisition, architecture frameworks, MBSE and C4ISR standards.

Responsibilities

Lead system architecture evaluations, technology trade studies and performance assessments.
Define and refine system requirements aligned with Navy specs and mission needs.
Oversee design reviews, code reviews and configuration audits for quality.
Coordinate design integration across hardware, software and external interfaces.
Mentor engineering staff and drive continuous technical excellence.
Support system verification, validation, test planning and readiness.
