Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a System Administrator (Systems) III to lead OS installation, configuration, and monitoring for VMware, storage, and appliance systems. The role includes expert end-user support during core hours and rotational on-call duties, with ownership of change management, hardware repairs, and deployment strategy testing.

You will harden servers to align with security baselines, maintain patch levels, and support Cyber Security during incident responses.

Qualifications

• US citizen required; must pass federal background check and obtain Public Trust.
• Extensive experience in a multi‑platform data center environment.
• Proficiency with VCenter, SAN Management, and iLO/iDRAC.
• Knowledge of LDAP, DHCP, DNS.
• Scripting skills: Perl, PowerShell, Windows scripting, and shell scripts.

Responsibilities

• Lead OS installation, configuration, monitoring, and support for VMware, Storage, and appliances.
• Provide expert end-user support during core hours; on-call support after hours and weekends.
• Lead change management with CAB as needed; coordinate hardware and software changes.
• Oversee hardware repairs with vendors and resolve complex issues.
• Analyze and propose server hardware/software upgrades and deployment strategies.
• Harden servers to meet security baselines; assist Cyber Security during incidents.
• Maintain inventory of servers and related equipment/software; document procedures.
• Lead backup/restore activities and annual restore tests; manage failed backups and db backups.
