Job summary

The Dixon Group in Chestertown, MD is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to safeguard and enhance our IT landscape. You will manage VMware environments (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi), Microsoft servers, AD, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft 365, while driving security, backup, and DR initiatives.

Responsibilities include Azure support, storage and Citrix infra, network gear, patching, and incident resolution. This role offers a stable path with veteran-focused culture and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• Certifications in VMware, O365/Azure, Microsoft Server, Citrix or Firewall are preferred.
• 7–10 years of VMware environment administration (vSphere/vCenter/ESXi).
• 3–5 years storage, networking, VPNs, firewalls, cybersecurity expertise.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Server OS and networking protocols.
• Experience with backup/recovery, DR concepts (Veeam, cloud retention).
• Proven incident troubleshooting in production, capable of independent and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support the organization's enterprise infrastructure securely and reliably.
• Administer virtual server environments (VMware: vSphere, vCenter, ESXi).
• Manage Microsoft servers and core services (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, Microsoft 365).
• Oversee backup, recovery, DR solutions (Veeam, cloud retention).
• Support Azure cloud resources and optimize cloud-based apps.
• Act as Tier III escalation for complex issues; monitor performance and patching.
• Maintain storage, Citrix, networking, and cybersecurity controls.
