Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a VMware Administrator to maintain a large VMware-based infrastructure and ensure security, reliability, and performance. You will implement STIGs, manage vCenter/vSphere, and collaborate with cyber, network, and systems teams to build highly available clusters and scalable virtual networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or technical training or certification.
• 3+ years of relevant experience as a VMware Administrator.
• Hands-on experience building, troubleshooting, and maintaining VMware environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
• Experience with DISA STIG/SCAP processes and implementation.
• PowerShell or equivalent scripting experience for automation and configuration management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and multi-task in a dynamic environment.
• DoW IAT Level II IA and baseline certification requirements at start date (e.g., CompTIA Security+ ce or higher).
• Active Secret clearance required at time of interview.

Responsibilities

• Configure, manage, and maintain VMware infrastructure.
• Perform maintenance for 24x7 operations.
• Implement DISA STIGs for ESXi, VM, and vCenter.
• Build and maintain clusters and virtual networks.
• Backups, restoration, and troubleshooting of virtualized systems.
• Design, document, test, and implement new virtual services and configurations.
• Create, submit, and defend change requests.
• Develop capacity planning models for business needs.
