Job summary

City of Schertz is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to provide technical leadership for our systems environment. You will ensure availability, performance, and security while developing solutions aligned with standards and policies.

Responsibilities include backup/restoration, training material preparation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The role requires experience with Windows and Linux servers, AD, virtualization, and cloud platforms (Azure).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, IT, or a related field.
• Five years of IT work experience with strong Windows systems administration.
• May consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical leadership for the systems operating environment to ensure availability and performance.
• Leads system integration testing for OS, utilities, and hardware upgrades.
• Provides 24x7 production support and on-call duties as needed.
• Implements contingency plans including backup and restore procedures.
• Coordinates system development activities with other groups and participates in planning.
