Job description

Summary:

We are seeking aSenior Systems Administratorto join a Specialized Infrastructure Operations team within the Information Technology & Data Analytics (IT&DA) organization in Herndon, VA. This role supports a Mission Operations Portfolio by delivering and maintaining critical platforms for both commercial and government clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead system integration efforts, including hardware/software installation, configuration, and lifecycle management of servers and workstations.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and technical support for delivery systems.
  • Participate in the design, validation, and configuration management of computing environments.
  • Plan and coordinate system upgrades and changes.
  • Manage user access and implement safeguards to ensure compliance with security requirements.
  • Monitor system performance and support capacity planning, backup strategies, and disaster recovery.
  • Mentor and train junior team members, fostering knowledge sharing and team development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree with 9+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD with 4+ years related work experience, Masters degree with 7+ years related work experience, 13 years related work experience, etc.).
  • Active Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Successfully completed a Tier 5 (T5) Investigation (formerly SSBI) within the last 5 years or enrolled in a Continuous Vetting program.
  • 5+ years of experience as a systems administrator.
  • 5+ years of experience working cross-functionally with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active certifications in Cloud technologies, Information Security (INFOSEC), or related fields.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as AHV, VMware ESXi, and Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with VDI infrastructure, system monitoring, security hardening, documentation (e.g., Confluence), and task tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
