Job summary

San Bernardino County invites applications for Systems Accountant III to lead Systems Accountants in developing, designing, and reviewing the most complex accounting system and procedure assignments. The ideal candidate will assist departments in identifying, analyzing, and processing accounting problems and will develop and implement advanced accounting systems and procedures.

The position offers an annual Certified Public Accountant stipend of $750 and access to excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• Must possess a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics OR a bachelor's degree in another field which must include 30 semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in accounting.
• Three (3) years of professional-level accounting experience that includes analyzing, designing, implementing, and/or maintaining computerized accounting systems with documentation of requirements, functionality, controls, issues, and training materials.
• One (1) year of professional-level accounting experience may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Systems Accountants in developing, designing, and reviewing the most complex accounting systems and procedures.
• Assist departments in identifying, defining, analyzing, and processing accounting and financial problems.
• Develop and recommend a variety of departmental accounting systems; prepare procedures and instruct departments in implementation of new or modified systems.
• Evaluate feasibility of accounting systems; coordinate conversion of existing systems and procedures.
• Respond to questions regarding accounting concepts, cost accounting, and fiscal matters.
