Job summary

CHAOS Industries in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a senior System/Subsystem Engineer to lead the engineering effort on a clean-sheet airframe design. You will direct CONOPS, requirements, and the integration plan across product families, collaborating closely with the R&D team.

The role requires a 10+ year track record in aerospace systems engineering, DoD experience, and strong data analysis with sensor, autopilot, and HW/SW integration expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in professional systems engineering for a prime systems integrator.
• Experience in developing system/subsystem requirements and leading trade studies.
• Familiarity with UAS subsystems including sensors, navigation, autopilots, actuation, power subsystems.
• Experience with data reduction and post-test data analysis for aerospace systems.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with modern software development practices (Git, CI/CD, automated testing).
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate in small teams.
• U.S. Person status is required to access U.S.-only data systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain System Architecture and CONOPS.
• Lead development of system and subsystem requirements and specifications from inception through V&V.
• Lead system and subsystem integration & test activities, including hardware selloff for demonstrations.
• Support local and field testing of software and flight hardware.
• Work full-time on-site in Los Angeles (El Segundo), California.
