Job summary

CHAOS Industries seeks a Senior Guidance Software Engineer to lead the design of guidance software on a clean-sheet airframe. Join our R&D team to expand your skills across product families and guide complex embedded software efforts.

You will work on COTS frameworks, real-time embedded systems, and flight-critical software in a tight, highly skilled group in Los Angeles area offices. Competitive base salary and stock options accompany growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have minimum education: Bachelor’s or higher in CS/CE/Aerospace or related field.
• 10+ years of professional, object-oriented software development experience.
• Experience with guidance algorithms for UAS using autopilot frameworks (e.g., ArduPilot).
• Practical understanding of flight dynamics of fixed and rotary wing platforms.
• Software development on microcontrollers (STM32 or similar) and Linux on Nvidia Jetson/SoC platforms.
• Experience with real-time embedded software and hardware interfaces.
• Vendor driver/firmware integration experience.
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks (Scrum, CI, TDD).
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in small teams.
• U.S. Person status is required for access to U.S.-only data systems.

Responsibilities

• Implement guidance and navigation software within COTS frameworks.
• Support airframe design activities.
• Support system integration of software on flight hardware.
• Work full-time on-site in Los Angeles (Hawthorne), California.
