Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA seeks an experienced System Safety Engineering leader to drive safety across its product portfolio. You will guide teams through the System Safety lifecycle from concept through design, qualification, production, and field deployment.

You will implement robust safety frameworks, lead risk mitigation, and foster a safety-focused culture while ensuring compliance with military and industry standards and contributing to proposals and customer communications.

Qualifications

• Minimum BS degree in mechanical, aerospace, systems engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years in system safety with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
• Proven ability to build, scale, and manage technical teams of 5+ engineers.
• Strong background in FHA, FTA, SCFTA, and FMECA.
• Extensive knowledge of MIL-STD-882E and related safety standards.
• Experience with safety-critical hardware/software in defense/aerospace, preferably weapons systems.
• Experience establishing a System Safety framework from early design to hazard analysis.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of System Safety Engineers with technical guidance and artifact development.
• Manage resources and recruit to support multiple programs.
• Develop and implement System Safety program plans aligned with MIL-STD-882E.
• Define the Safety org vision, goals and framework across product development.
• Oversee FHA, FTA, SCFTA, and SAR analyses and safety requirements.
• Support milestone reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR) and customer/regulatory liaison.
• Drive continuous improvement of System Safety processes and methodologies.
