Job summary

RTX seeks a Senior System Safety Engineer for onsite roles in Woburn, MA, Marlborough, Andover, or Portsmouth RI. You will develop safety programs, perform hazard analyses, and coordinate with customers and internal teams to ensure system safety across the lifecycle.

Ideal candidates hold a STEM degree with 5+ years in safety engineering, and familiarity with MIL-STD-882/DoD standards. Relocation eligible and a strong commitment to mission safety are expected.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Develop MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs and analyses.
• Conduct hazard analyses to ensure compliance with requirements and standards.
• Coordinate with customer safety reps and Safety Review Board authorities.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across disciplines to mitigate hazards.
• Provide lifecycle safety oversight from startup to disposal phases.
• Prepare internal and customer-facing safety reports and briefings.
