Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Staff Engineer, Hardware System Test in Round Rock, TX to lead system-level hardware testing and validation across hardware, firmware, and software. You’ll define strategies, drive test frameworks, and coordinate with QA, Electronics, and Systems teams to ensure robust releases.

You will mentor QA engineers and test technicians, identify test gaps, and report key quality metrics. A strong background in EMC/UL/safety and industry equipment is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Computer Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 8+ years of hardware system testing or system validation experience.
• Strong system-level understanding across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software domains.
• Experience defining and executing system-level test strategies.
• Knowledge of validation methodologies, verification practices, and defect management.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, USB protocols.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership.
• HIL testing experience.
• Test automation or scripting experience (Python, LabVIEW).
• Experience with electromechanical or industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with EMC, UL, safety, and PCI compliance.
• Experience supporting field issues and feeding learnings back into validation.
• Exposure to NPI, stage-gate, DFMEA, and formal design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead system-level hardware testing and validation strategies.
• Develop test frameworks for integrated hardware, firmware, and software systems.
• Create and maintain system integration test plans and coverage matrices.
• Partner with QA, Firmware, Electronics, and Systems teams on validation.
• Identify test gaps and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead system-level troubleshooting and defect resolution.
• Mentor QA engineers and test technicians.
• Track and report system-level quality metrics and KPIs.
