Job Overview

Bowhead seeks a Senior Systems Engineer (Network) in Dahlgren, VA to maintain multiple computing environments by identifying network requirements, installing upgrades, monitoring network performance, and managing network configuration consistency. The Senior Systems Engineer will provide engineering, design, and implementation solutions for various network architectures.

Responsibilities

• Implement local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, & other data networks.
• Maintain network availability in multiple environments by administering Cisco switching environments with fiber-based and copper-based Ethernet connectivity (1gig and 10gig).
• Install, manage, and maintain Cisco switching components supporting campus, WAN, and distributed core architectures.
• Manage Cisco Prime Infrastructure and analyze network health, security, and performance; perform router/switch administration and configuration.
• Experience with network routers, switches, and Cisco configuration.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, 802.1x, ACLs, ARP, RADIUS, IPv6, DHCP, Intrusion Prevention, Authentication, and ISP circuit connections.
• Develop and execute test plans to evaluate infrastructure and system performance.
• Perform network modeling and analysis.
• Design diagrams and plans for business technology initiatives.
• Enforce policies for system standardization.
• Monitor and maintain core backbone network services, perform upgrades, and manage network infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of relevant experience.
• IAT Level II certification.
• Strong background in Cisco switching and TCP/IP protocol analysis.
• Experience in networking, IT, or related fields.
• Familiarity with communication network research.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with strong organizational skills.

Security Clearance

Must currently hold a Top Secret security clearance. US Citizenship required for Top Secret clearance.
