Job summary

RTX is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to provide administration across RedHat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows environments, supporting engineering software installation and testing. You will collaborate with System Admins, Cyber Security, Network Engineering and program stakeholders to maintain security and operational readiness.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, BackupExec, NetBackup, prior systems administration experience, Windows or Linux administration, Backup and Recovery enterprise suites.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous RedHat Enterprise/Microsoft Windows and environment.
  • Participate in all phases of Engineering software installation and support, with emphasis on testing, documentation, and acceptance phases.
  • Collaborate with System Admins, Cyber Security professionals, Network Engineering and Program Stakeholders.
  • Apply understanding and knowledge of Windows Server internals or Linux fundamentals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
  • Work as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment. Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).
  • Responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to a Linux/Windows infrastructure for classified programs. Duties include, but are not limited to, server management (software and hardware); storage management (logical and physical); cross platform authentication and access management; data backup and restoration; software and license configuration; and workstation support.
  • Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned.
  • Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.
  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours

What You Will Do:

Experience with some of, but not limited to, the following technologies: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, BackupExec, NetBackup, prior systems administration experience, Windows or Linux administration, Backup and Recovery enterprise suites.

Experience with Server architectures and/or troubleshooting methods and ability to assist in developing solutions and documentation to a variety of technical problems.

Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, Linux Desktops, Windows desktops (Windows 10, 11), Splunk and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.

Qualifications We Prefer:

Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) and an Operating System Certification.

Direct working experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.

Experience in RedHat Enterprise Linux.

Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions.

Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.

Experience with Microsoft WSUS, SCCM, and/or Exchange

Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.

High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
