Job summary

Raytheon seeks an IT Systems Administrator to provision, operate, and maintain Linux/Windows infrastructure for classified programs at our McKinney site. The role requires collaboration with cybersecurity, network engineering, and program stakeholders and involves support across the full software lifecycle.

Ideal candidates will have exposure to Red Hat Linux, Active Directory, VMware, and backup/recovery suites, plus scripting skills in PowerShell or Bash.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, BackupExec, NetBackup, Windows or Linux administration, Backup and Recovery enterprise suites.
• Experience with Server architectures and troubleshooting methods and ability to develop solutions and documentation.
• Experience using VMware vCenter, vSphere, Linux Desktops, Windows desktops (Windows 10, 11), Splunk and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
• Scripting/ automation PowerShell, Bash experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous RedHat Enterprise/Microsoft Windows environment.
• Participate in all phases of Engineering software installation and support, with emphasis on testing, documentation, and acceptance phases.
• Collaborate with System Admins, Cyber Security professionals, Network Engineering and Program Stakeholders.
• Apply understanding and knowledge of Windows Server internals or Linux fundamentals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
• Work as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment. Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity.
• Provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software for a Linux/Windows infrastructure for classified programs.
• Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation on advanced IT processes and procedures.
• Must be able to obtain DoD 8140/8570 certification within 6 months of start date.
• Systems are operational 24x7 and may require after-hours work.

What You Will Do:

• Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous RedHat Enterprise/Microsoft Windows and environment.
• Participate in all phases of Engineering software installation and support, with emphasis on testing, documentation, and acceptance phases.

• Apply understanding and knowledge of Windows Server internals or Linux fundamentals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
• Work as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment. Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).
• Responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to a Linux/Windows infrastructure for classified programs. Duties include, but are not limited to, server management (software and hardware); storage management (logical and physical); cross platform authentication and access management; data backup and restoration; software and license configuration; and workstation support.
• Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned.
• Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.
• Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours
• Full time 100% Onsite position

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Experience with some of, but not limited to, the following technologies: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, BackupExec, NetBackup, prior systems administration experience, Windows or Linux administration, Backup and Recovery enterprise suites.
• Experience with Server architectures and/or troubleshooting methods and ability to assist in developing solutions and documentation to a variety of technical problems.
• Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, Linux Desktops, Windows desktops (Windows 10, 11), Splunk and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
• Scripting/ automation PowerShell, Bash experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) and an Operating System Certification.
• Direct working experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
• Experience in RedHat Enterprise Linux.
• Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions.
• Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
• Experience with Microsoft WSUS, SCCM, and/or Exchange
• Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
• High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
