Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Genetics, Biochemistry, or closely related discipline; Master’s with relevant defense/industry experience acceptable.
• 3+ years of hands-on or advisory experience in modern gene editing modalities (e.g., CRISPR/Cas systems, base editing, prime editing).
• Familiarity with gene drive architectures, synthetic genomic circuits, or novel cell-free/in vivo synthetic biology methods.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate breakthrough biological science and engineering concepts and assist in structuring ambitious R&D programs.
• Provide in-depth technical analyses of proposals and DARPA projects in synthetic biology and related fields.
• Draft program lifecycle documents and translate complex concepts into executive briefings and dashboards.
• Track milestones across university, national labs, and industry teams to flag risks early.
