Job summary

Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) is hiring a Lead Driver to service customer accounts in Minnesota. You will haul waste and recycling materials, supervise a team of drivers, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

The role requires strong communication with dispatch and route managers and attention to daily logs and vehicle maintenance. The position emphasizes leadership, training new drivers, coordinating schedules, and maintaining efficient routes while upholding LRS

Qualifications

• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid Class B CDL.
• Ability to drive manual transmission or willing to learn.
• Must have a valid DOT medical card or obtain prior to hire.
• Must not have any DUI/OUI within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
• Must not have any license suspensions within the last 2 years.
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicle in accordance with Lakeshore Waste Services safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and document checks.
• Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.
• Attend and participate in training programs, briefings, and meetings.
• Work with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
• Notify Route Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
• Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions and hazards.
• Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.
• Maintain and update driver log sheets throughout the day.
• Keep the vehicle clean and communicate professionally with customers.
• Follow route assignments and complete end-of-day documentation and checkout.
• Lead Driver duties: coordinate & lead a team of drivers; schedule changes; onboard/train drivers; monitor overtime; support quarterly goals; help develop SOPs.
