Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a dedicated Swim Instructor II to join our Summit Family YMCA team. You will teach group, private, and adaptive swim lessons across all ages, fostering a positive, inclusive environment and supporting students' progress through structured plans and feedback.

Responsibilities include creating lesson plans, ensuring water safety, and coordinating with staff to manage equipment and records while maintaining the highest YMCA standards and customer service

Qualifications

• YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications
• At least 6 months experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Instruct swimming lessons (group, private, and/or adaptive) for all ages and swim levels according to YMCA guidelines.
• Create and implement lesson plans according to age and swim level and support participants in achieving their goals.
• Teach proper swimming techniques, strokes, breathing, and water safety.
• Provide feedback and encouragement to help students improve.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment and monitor student behavior.
• Train and supervise class aides and lead in-services.

Education

YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent

CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications

At least 6 months experience

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
