Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Suspension Design Release Engineer to own performance damper and suspension hardware for high‑performance programs. You will define specifications, ensure robust packaging, and lead validation efforts while coordinating with suppliers and vehicle dynamics teams to deliver world‑class ride and track performance.

You will manage design releases, DFMEA, BOMs, and DVP&R, driving on-time engineering changes within a hybrid work model and cross-functional program

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or related engineering field.
• 5+ years experience in vehicle suspension design (Senior) or 3+ years (Design Release Engineer).
• Direct design/release responsibility for suspension/damper engineering.
• Strong damper design knowledge (valving, friction, durability, NVH).
• Solid suspension design and vehicle dynamics background.

Responsibilities

• Own design, release, and lifecycle of performance dampers and related suspension hardware for assigned programs.
• Define damper specifications aligned to ride and handling targets.
• Integrate dampers into the suspension system with packaging, travel management, and compatibility with springs and anti-roll systems.
• Collaborate with vehicle dynamics to translate targets into hardware specs for ride/track development.
• Plan and execute validation (dyno, K&C, rigs, vehicle durability and performance).
• Lead technical interface with suppliers on damper design, quality, timing and cost.
• Maintain core DRE documents and drive timely issue resolution and engineering changes.
