Job summary

General Motors LLC seeks a Design Release Engineer to lead the design, release, and lifecycle management of suspension components and systems. You will translate vehicle targets into detailed component requirements and collaborate across engineering disciplines to meet ride, handling, durability, and cost goals.

The role requires 3+ years in suspension design/release and hands-on experience with DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and 3D modeling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in vehicle suspension design, development, testing, or release.
• Experience supporting design and release of suspension components or systems.
• Working knowledge of suspension design, vehicle dynamics, K&C, durability, NVH, spring and damper matching, load management, and component interfaces.
• Experience with engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications, BOMs, DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and test-data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Support design and release of assigned suspension components and systems from concept through production.
• Translate vehicle objectives into component and system requirements (performance, durability, load, packaging, tuning).
• Develop and maintain designs, 3D models, drawings, specifications, BOMs, design records, and engineering changes.
• Collaborate with Vehicle Dynamics, Chassis, Structures, Controls, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, suppliers, and program teams.
• Support testing (K&C, rig, durability, vehicle evaluations) and analyze results to identify root causes.
• Maintain DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, requirements, BOMs, and issue-tracking documents.
