Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI is seeking a Senior Design Release Engineer to own suspension hardware from concept through production. You will lead design, release, and validation to meet packaging, durability, NVH, and cost targets on full-size truck programs.

You will collaborate with Vehicle Dynamics, Chassis, Manufacturing, and suppliers to drive technical decisions, interpret test results, and deliver robust, launch-ready hardware that satisfies performance and reliability goals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in vehicle suspension design, development, or release.
• Direct design-release responsibility for suspension systems or components on vehicle programs.
• Strong knowledge of suspension component and system design, including durability and NVH.
• Understanding of vehicle dynamics, kinematics, and load paths.
• Experience using engineering drawings, 3D models, BOMs, DFMEAs, and DVP&Rs.
• Experience planning and interpreting suspension testing (K&C, rig, durability, vehicle evaluations).
• Ability to lead technical decisions, manage risk, and deliver on time, cost, and quality.
• Clear, concise technical communication toward engineering and program leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and release of suspension components and systems.
• Convert vehicle targets into component and system requirements.
• Develop robust designs with packaging, mounting, and serviceability.
• Own the technical definition and release of hardware including 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and changes.
• Plan and execute validation (component tests, K&C, durability, vehicle performance).
• Coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure launch readiness.
