Job summary

Stratus seeks a Lead Surveyor - Department Head to oversee surveying projects, lead a team of surveyors and technicians, and ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards. The role includes coordinating fieldwork, preparing detailed reports, and engaging with clients to communicate findings.

The position may work from our Atlanta, Raleigh, Richmond or Charlotte office, with a focus on delivering high-quality surveying services to diverse clients in surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in surveying or Geomatics (or related field) is required.
• Valid Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license for the state of Georgia is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Experience with GIS and surveying software is preferred.
• Project management certification or experience leading large-scale surveying projects is a plus.
• Familiarity with local zoning laws and regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage surveying projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets.
• Conduct field surveys using advanced surveying equipment to gather accurate data.
• Analyze survey data and prepare maps, reports, and legal descriptions for clients.
• Supervise and mentor junior surveyors and technicians.
• Collaborate with clients, engineers, and stakeholders to discuss project requirements and deliverables.
