Job summary

Stratus seeks a Lead Surveyor - Department Head to oversee surveying projects, lead a team of surveyors and technicians, and ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards. The role includes coordinating fieldwork, preparing detailed reports, and engaging with clients to communicate findings.

The position may work from our Atlanta, Raleigh, Richmond or Charlotte office, with a focus on delivering high-quality surveying services to diverse clients in surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in surveying or Geomatics (or related field) is required.
• Valid Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license for the state of Georgia is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Experience with GIS and surveying software is preferred.
• Project management certification or experience leading large-scale surveying projects is a plus.
• Familiarity with local zoning laws and regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage surveying projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets.
• Conduct field surveys using advanced surveying equipment to gather accurate data.
• Analyze survey data and prepare maps, reports, and legal descriptions for clients.
• Supervise and mentor junior surveyors and technicians.
• Collaborate with clients, engineers, and stakeholders to discuss project requirements and deliverables.

The Role

The Lead Surveyor - Department Head will play a critical role in overseeing and managing surveying projects to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards. This position involves leading a team of surveyors and technicians, coordinating fieldwork, and analyzing data to produce precise land surveys. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed reports and documentation that support project objectives and client requirements. Additionally, the Lead Surveyor will engage with clients and stakeholders to communicate findings and provide expert recommendations. Ultimately, this role is essential for delivering high‑quality surveying services that meet the needs of our diverse clientele in surrounding areas. The position may work from our Atlanta, Raleigh, Richmond or Charlotte office.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage surveying projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets

Qualifications

Required
