Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Senior Civil Surveyor in Denver, Colorado. This role leads daily survey operations, including construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with clients.

You will work on municipal and transportation projects, review surveys for quality, run CAD/C3D and GPS workflows, and help prepare proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and budgets within an ESOP-owned firm.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of surveying experience; 12+ preferred.
  • Land Surveyor license required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex survey work for construction stakeout, boundary, and topographic surveys.

This role provides leadership in the daily operations of survey activities, including construction layout, boundary, topographic, and as built surveys. It also performs production surveying duties while applying diversified knowledge of principles and practices in land surveying related fields under the leadership of a Senior Land Surveyor.The role also supports calculations, surveying judgment, proposals, scopes of work, schedules, budgets, quality control, and mentoring junior staff while building productive relationships with clients and coworkers. Working with a team focused on municipal and transportation projects, this position helps support Colorado communities through resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.**At a Glance****Location:**Denver, Colorado**Discipline:**Civil**Markets:**Municipal; Transportation**Ownership:**100% employee-owned (ESOP)**Travel:**Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays**Work Schedule:**Full-time in office**Sponsorship:**Not available**What You'll Do*** Perform complex survey work for construction stakeout and boundary, topographic, and as built surveys.* Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports.* Complete boundary reductions, boundary determinations, and mapping and topographic field reductions in CAD and survey software.* Maintain and verify project survey data accuracy and manage the company standards survey database.* Review survey production, final products, processed data collection, and field notes for quality control.* Prepare survey computations, staking and control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projects.* Operate and assist with GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors, and other survey equipment.* Supervise CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing the surveys performed.* Build productive working relationships with clients and coworkers.* Prepare proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and budgets, and mentor and assist in training junior staff members.* Operate a company vehicle.* Observe safety and security procedures.**What You'll Bring****Required**Education and Experience* Bachelor of Science (BS) or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required* 8 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred* Land Surveyor (LS) License required**Required Skills/Abilities*** Advanced knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles and practices* Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documents* Knowledge and ability to effectively deal with public and governmental agencies, manage field crews, and schedule equipment and supplies* Proficient in on-site office operation, office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques* Advanced understanding of office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques* Advanced understanding of survey operations and identification of potential problems* Proficient with AutoCAD C3D, survey, GPS, MS Office software* Advanced problem-solving techniques* Proven people management and leadership capabilities* Possesses oral and written communication skills* Ability to effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, coworkers and professionally represent IMEG* Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check* Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook* Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays**Physical Requirements*** Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds* Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull* Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises**About the Team*** Municipal-heavy civil team serving Colorado's Front Range from Greenwood Village and Breckenridge* On-call engineering, development and plan review, and public-works support for Colorado cities and districts* Water/wastewater, stormwater, GIS, street design, and traffic-signal work* Strong relationships with Front Range municipalities and metro districts* Recent work includes Town of Morrison On-Call Engineering, Government; City of Golden Streets & Utilities, Government; and Castle Pines Metro District Water & Tank, Water/Wastewater.**Why IMEG**We put people at the center of who we are, creating positive outcomes for people, communities, and our planet.
