Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking multiple Survey Party Chiefs in Houston to manage a survey crew of 1–5, with 90% fieldwork including boundary, topographic, ALTA and GPS surveys for large commercial projects.

You will supervise, train, and evaluate crew members and work from construction plans in varying outdoor conditions. Ideal candidates have 7–10 years as a Crew Leader/Party Chief, valid driver’s license, and knowledge of survey tech and civil engineering basics.

Qualifications

• Experience with construction staking and data collection systems.
• Ability to perform basic GPS operations.
• Proficient with Robotic Total Station.
• Familiar with basic computer applications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and client-facing abilities.
• Minimum 7–10 years of Crew Leader/Party Chief experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of survey technology and basic civil engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of survey equipment used on job site and assist with training others when practical.
• Prepare field sketches/drawings and high-quality field notes for each project in accordance with company and general survey standards.
• Assemble all instruments and measuring devices needed to complete various types of survey work assignments.
• Ensure proper equipment is loaded and batteries charged for the next assignment.
• Perform mathematical calculations and read/understand plans and specifications.
• Adhere to company safety policies and PPE usage.
• Provide positive client/public relations in the field.
• Complete assigned tasks and perform other duties as assigned.
