Job summary

Qualifications

• Certification from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• One year of Surgical Technologist Senior experience, in good standing, at the University of Michigan Health System.
• This position requires primary source verification
• Graduation from high school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program.
• Two years' experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team during operating procedures by passing instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeons and surgical assistants.
• Select and layout instruments for operating procedures.
• Prepare sterile supplies for operating procedures.
• Prepare surgical trays for operating procedures.
• Assist in the preparation of patients for surgery.
• Move patients after completion of surgery for transfer to Recovery area.
• Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
