Job summary

Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to support multiple specialty areas within Perioperative Services. The role includes verifying equipment, coordinating with surgeons and vendors, and offering in-service education to staff.

Qualified candidates have a surgical technician training background, 3+ years of experience, and knowledge to maintain a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician training program.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within 6 months of hire date.
• Three (3) years of Surgical Tech experience in an Acute/Perioperative Services/Hospital setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Demonstrated expertise in one complex surgical specialty or multiple surgical specialties.
• Demonstrated skills in precepting, time management and organization of supplies and equipment.
• Expert knowledge of a wide variety of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills in customer service, problem-solving, and taking initiative.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical technician support to several specialty surgical areas within UC San Diego Health.
• Verify specialty equipment and inventory; coordinate with surgeons and vendors about malfunctions.
• Provide continuing education in-service to staff.
