Job summary

UNC Health's Rex CVOR in North Carolina is hiring a Surgical Technologist III to support complex cardiac and vascular procedures. You will ensure sterile technique, maintain instrument readiness, assist the surgeon, scrub across multiple services, and participate in planning and instrument sets for each case.

This full-time, on-site role offers a comprehensive orientation, mentorship of new hires, and opportunities to contribute to department-wide safety and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; or Military Training Program in Surgical Technology; or substitution for 5+ years of experience as a surgical tech.
• 3+ years of professional surgical tech experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership at unit level to correct safety/clinical quality deficiencies.
• Assists in development of policies, procedures, and protocols at the department level.
• Performs technical skill duties in operating room specialty service areas with proper practices.
• Maintains, assembles, handles, and sterilizes specialty instrumentation; facilitates efficient room turnovers.
• Mentors Surgical Tech peers; primary preceptor for new hires and scrub role for CVOR.
