Job summary

UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh is seeking a Surgical Technologist III to support cardiovascular cases in the CVOR. You will maintain sterile fields, assist with instruments and equipment, and collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia to ensure patient safety.

Required: 3+ years of surgical tech experience, CVOR/cardiac exposure preferred, BLS, CST/TS-C, and on-call availability. Per diem schedule with on-site work and limited weekly hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, Nursing/Surgical Tech program, or military training substitute for experience.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Leads at unit level to correct safety and clinical quality deficiencies.
• Develops department policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Performs technical scrub duties and ensures sterile technique across CVOR.
• Maintains and sterilizes specialty instrumentation and supports efficient room turnover.
• Mentors new hires and serves as primary preceptor for CVOR scrub role.
