Surgical Technologists are vital members of the surgical team, providing care to patients. Senior Surgical Technologists work under the supervision of surgeons and circulating RNs to facilitate safe and effective invasive procedures, ensuring a safe operating environment, proper equipment function, and patient safety. They are individuals with specialized education functioning as scrub persons in the surgical team.

Job Qualifications

1. Experience: Minimum of three years with complex surgical procedures
2. Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
3. Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist Training program
4. Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
5. Certified Surgical Technician (NBSTSA) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (NCCT), or 20+ years of equivalent experience
6. Special Skills: Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, instruments, sutures, power and specialty equipment, medications, and supply terminology
