Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a full-time Medical Surgery Coder to join our experienced coding team. This highly complex role handles intermediate to complex diagnostic, E/M, procedural and surgery coding with strong knowledge of surgical modifiers and guidelines, including unlisted codes.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of surgical coding, familiarity with general surgery and Epic, and the ability to work independently while collaborating as needed to ensure accurate and timely

Qualifications

• 4+ years of surgical coding experience
• Experience with general surgery, trauma or other surgical specialties preferred
• CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CCA, RHIT and/or RHIA certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Codes intermediate to complex diagnostic, evaluation and management, surgical and procedural services.
• Mentors coding staff through education and guidance.
• Performs monthly coding quality reviews and shares findings.
• Ensures charges are captured using daily reports and follow-up.
• Communicates with providers and clinic staff about documentation and coding issues.
• Assists in research and resolves problematic issues with timely feedback
