Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking a Surgical Assistant to support surgeons during operative procedures. You will help identify anatomy, assist with hemostasis, positioning, and closure, and maintain patient safety and comfort throughout cases.

Strong emphasis on teamwork, on-call availability, and staying current with surgical techniques and aseptic practices. Requires formal surgical assisting education and relevant certifications within 6 months of employment.

Qualifications

• 2 years college or specialty school in surgical assisting.
• 4 years general experience with 2 years in any specialty area preferred.
• Certified by one of NSAA, CFA in AST, AA-C in AAPA, or CRNFA in ONA within 6 months of employment.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performance of specific tasks as a Surgical Assistant during surgical procedures.
• Assist with identifying anatomy within the operative field.
• Maintain positive patient relations and comply with surgeon's plans and safety protocols.
• Position the patient and assist with hemostasis and closure as directed by the surgeon.
• Provide visualization of the operative site and manage tissues, retractors, and sutures.
• Participate in on-call duties and stay current with safety and aseptic techniques.
